To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

All,

I seek your assistance with locating a robust 99 channel codeplug for a low band MT1000.

I am specifically seeking one that has 6 Meter amateur repeaters.

If it also has low band frequencies to listen to that are not ham, that's fine.

Best regards to all,

You should be able to program 6M channels in, but the VCO's OFTEN won't go very high in the band.
I will look in QRZ.

Forgot to mention, there wasn't an actual 99 ch low band MT1000.
The "display" model was only supposed to be 32 ch.
That said, I have seen some that were 99 ch as they had controller boards that must have come from V or U radios from the
factory.
The most common ones I have seen were only 32 channel.

If you have a 32 ch controller you can't dump a 99 ch codeplug in.

Not sure how I missed this the first time around. There definitely was a 99 channel low band MT1000. The Ministry of Natural Resources in Ontario bought them brand new from Motorola in the early 90's. My girlfriend was issued one and she brought it home to show me and at that point, I knew she was a keeper.

Model number on mine is H41GCJ7130AN. Never tried 6m on mine but from what I understand, you just hex edit the codeplug and hope the VCO locks. If it doesn't, you can ground the VCO Lock Detect line according to HT600/MT1000 (batlabs.com)

Most will work fine up to 52.525, but might not go much further.
Maybe one out of ten will go up to 53.00.
Grounding the lock line only gets you a little. its not like it makes the VCO NEVER go out of lock.
If the VCO just STOPS, then having the lock line grounded won't help.
