Hello,

Have a HomePatrol-1
A bit confused over the "Setting Of Service Types".

I have a bunch of Favorites lists.
In the radio menu: “Select Service Types”, they are all greyed out.

Should I have done anything in the Sentinel List before I download these
to the radio ?

When I try to use, I get a msg:
“No channels matching selected service types are in range.
Change the Service Type selections, your location, or the range
settings.”

If I select Settings, the menu that appears, is, again, greyed out.

Not too sharp with this stuff at my age anymore.
But trying to get going again with the Scanner and hobby.

Is there a universal Global setting that will enable the radio to use whatever Service Settings
are required automatically rather than doing each one individually ?

How do I best handle this, please ?
(via Sentinel, or the radio settings, e.g. ? How?)

Assume you are dealing with a real beginner with this.

Thanks, as always, appreciate the help,
Bob

Wow need more coffee,,

You need to edit the profile you're using either thru Sentinel or from within the scanner. That's how it is for the x36 scanners. I think it's the same for the Home Patrol.

Here is a vid for the x36 scanners https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6dAVC8RdAI You can still write to the scanner without doing this, as you should be able to change them in the radio also.

If those selections on the menu page for service types are un-selectable (grayed out), it simply means that the current items loaded for scanning at that time, whether that be the master database or your favorites lists or both, do not contain any items of that service type description.

The items loaded for scanning are affected by what you have included in your favorites lists - and if you have those items set for downloading and monitoring in the Sentinel Profile Editor (if you are using favorites).

Also, items loaded for scanning are affected by what you have avoided and what is out of the range setting you have chosen.
