Selecting appropriate equipment

I'm currently searching for the most budget friendly personal system so I can hear EMS, PD and Fire in my area but I'm pretty new to this and I just keep going in circles trying to find the correct equipment..PLEASE HELP ME‼️ I am in Washington County, Missouri

At minimum looks like you need a P25 Phase 1 scanner with the DMR addon. Potosi Police and Fire are on the Mowin system, Washington County Sheriff, Fire, EMS on DMR on the Washington County frequencies. Most everything else is analog.

So if interested in Washington County Sheriff, Fire, Ems it has to have DMR.

Welcome to the RR forums @kacie5288. As aformentioned it looks like you'll require DMR to bring in your sheriff and police, so expect to shell out at minimum $400 for a capable scanner. Alternatively you could go the SDR route with DSDPlus or SDRTrunk for a fraction of the cost of a standalone scanner. Drawback is you'd be tied to a computer for operation.

Not as capable as what has been mentioned but a scanner app is really cheap to use. But very limited. I know MOSWIN Troop C is on there, not sure if any Washington County departments are on an app.
