Hello. Our company is converting us to Windows 10 Enterprise. I've been using the Sentinal software under Windows 7 fine. Now when I try to install it on my Windows 10 machine, it prompts me that is requires .net version 2.0 I go to the location in the link, and download .net version 5. When I again try to install Sentinal, I am again prompted to install .net 2.0. Is there a way around this? I am using the latest version of Sentinal 2.02.01 Thank you

Thank you. Our System Admin must have the ability to download from WIndows Update blocked (we uses WSUS) Look like I have to go to them to allow this download.

If you can get into control panel / Programs and features / Turn Windows Features on or off, you don't need to download anything manually.

It's possible to block this by GPO.

Yes, Windows Update is blocked by a GPO. Updates are pushed to our workstations using WSUS. The other issue is that Sentinal wants .net 2.5. We are currently using .NET 5. I run the risk by installing 2.5 that our current apps will not work correctly, and the IT Manager doesn't want old versions installed unless there is a business need, which there isn't . Is there a version of Sentinal that does not require the old version of .net? I purchased ARC536HP Pro and it's even more difficult to use and not as feature rich

Sentinel targets the .NET Framework 2.0. The .NET Framework versions are designed to co-exist. There is no .NET Framework 5.0. The latest is 4.8.

2.0 may already be installed. It just needs to be enabled. Enabling ver. 3.5 will enable 2.0. Here is a link on how to enable it.
Enable the .NET Framework 3.5 in Control Panel

If you want more links then do a on-line search for "how to enable .net framework 2.0 and 3.5 in windows 10"

If the IT folks won't enable it for Sentinel then perhaps do a on-line search for a business app that targets the .NET Framework 2.0 and use that for the justification.

FWIW, .NET 5 does exist. It may be only beta, but it is out there.

And as mentioned, .NET is not cumulative. You can have multiple versions running concurrent.

As always, it is up to your admins as to what they allow running. If they do not allow enabling of .NET 2, or if they block the FTP site, you may not be able to use that network to run Sentinel for updates.
