When I go into sentinel files to look at my favorites files the name is a number.hpd, is there a way to get the program to save the favorites with the favorite name I use in Sentinel program instead of going through all the .hpd files to find the right favorite file.

Use the "export to hpe file" in Sentinel

From the top menu bar in Sentinel, File ---> Export to hpe file

Short answer no, however the f_list.cfg file could provide some helpful insight to your query  and be careful... :geek:

If you open the f_list.cfg file in notepad, It tells you what FL ='s what HPD file number to open.

When you start going through file explorer to look at HPD files or other files in this area, it is like taking off the scanner's covers and messing around with the components. It presents opportunities for things to go wrong in the form of upsetting file structure. So proceed at your own risk. Backups are good things to create and then tinker with those if tinkering is on your mind.

Yes - any text editor such as Notepad will open the file so you can see the "innards". Looking doesn't hurt, but if you inadvertently change something and save the file. . .

Is there any way to open .hpd files directly? Bob.

Notepad or any other text editing program. But this wouldn't be recommended for those who don't have a sure footing in what's going on in Sentinel or PC's in general. And it's a good idea to keep an original copy of the file(s) elsewhere in the case that you do bork it. And do not do these things while Sentinel is open either.. Close it first.

I will not be doing any changes to the files. If I ever did I have all files on my computer and Windows 10 automatically back up once a day.

Thanks for the info. I'll use Notepad. Bob.
If you open the file in Excel, or compatible program, as tab delimited format you can edit texts and values easily and when saving the file it will be intact in the proper format without screwing up anything.

I've tested that with the database to add a different delay time and add light and alert settings. All fields are there in the database in the same order as the hpd files so it's just a matter of filling in the blanks. But there was some kind of quirk that I do not remember exactly when it happened but the scanner did an unnecessary filtering, too much firmware code, at some point that might have made the database edit pointless in a longer perspective.
