Sentinel not working after updating

Up until yesterday, I have been using a slightly older version of Sentinel for my 436 with no issues (version 1.07.03). I used it to update the firmware so I now have NXDN working great on my 436. I then however decided to update my Sentinel to the latest version (1.07.05) which I understand does not support NXDN yet. HOWEVER, it seems to not read any databases anymore. Upon starting Sentinel, I now get an error message stating the following:

Database could not be read.
BCDx36HP Sentinel Installation might be corrupted.
Please reinstall BCDx36HP Sentinel.

Extending gz file was failure.
Access to the path
'C:\ProgramData\Uniden\BCDx36HP_Sentinel\Database\MasterHpdb.hp1' is denied.

I don't believe access is denied because I can navigate through windows to that folder and that file is there. I have repaired Sentinel, re-installed Sentinel, removed and re-installed Sentinel, and even re-downloaded a fresh copy from the Uniden website, and upon installing, get the same error message. When I initially opened my older version to update the firmware on my 436, it was fine.

Any ideas on how to fix this?? I must be missing something here.

Try running as admin.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the super-speedy reply!

This is a work computer, however I have admin privileges. I confirmed this by checking in Control Panel under Users, and I'm listed under Administrator. Is there anything else that might be causing this? I went and attempted to re-install the older revision (the version that WAS working) and now that gives me the same error message.

This is a 64-bit version of Windows 7 Professional Edition with Svc Pack 1

Right click and run as administrator.

Ah.. I never right-clicked before on an EXE file, I usually just click on it, and it starts.

Ok, I just tried that, and I'm still getting the same error when I try to open Sentinel. Any other ideas?

I'd uninstall, delete the folder from your 1st post. Then, run the installer as admin and set the executable to always run as admin. If that doesn't work, I'm stumped (and, for the record, on Windows 10 64 bit and Windows 7 64-bit I didn't have to do any of that...but others have had to do that to get it to access the folders correctly; I don't know what is different between the PCs).

This still didn't work.. I'm going to have to abandon this for the moment and actually try to do some work at work.. LOL I'll try some other stuff and post back here with my findings or frustrations at a later date.
