When I install the Uniden Sentinel Software v1.05 R0 thru v1.07 R3, Sentinel can see and read the SD Card via USB cable or SD Card reader on the computer.
But when I install Sentinel v1.07 R5, the software will not see or read the SD card via USB cable or SD Card reader on the computer.

Is there a fix for this ?

Not at all.. And if I go to Clear User Data, and hit the Display All Drives, it still shows nothing at all.
I tried doing a complete uninstall using Revo Uninstalled, and CCleaner, and I've downloaded the newest
Sentinel Software (v1.07 R5), numerous times, thinking I got a bad download.
I have the latest firmware installed on the scanner (BCD536HP - v1.11.31).

I have uninstalled v1.07 R5, and went back to 1.07 R3 for now (which works fine).

So Far Away....
You may need to format the card,
Partiton manager ect..

Had this issue, good SD..scanner not seeing it.
after several attempts with the sentinel's clear data
method, that failed, a reformat got it done..

just make sure its FAT..

Thanks, I tried that too. Even tried a new SD Card.
Sentinel v1.07 R5, will not see any cards, either in the scanner or in the SD Card Reader.
But no issues with Sentinel v1.07 R3.

Just for the heck of it, try connecting your scanner to your computer and use the "Mass Storage" mode.

Then, use your Windows Explorer to see if your scanner shows up as a removable or USB Drive. If it is NOT there, then you have a connection issue rather than software. Ports bad on computer or scanner, perhaps a bad cable.

If it's there, look around and see if you have a "BCDx36HP" folder. If you see the folder, then the card is formatted/set-up properly. If not, something went sour in the format/clear user data process.

The only other thing is trying running the Sentinel Program as an Administrator.

Just looked, and the scanner shows in windows explorer, and there is a BCDx36HP folder.

The Sentinel software version 1.07 R5 is the only version that can't see the SD card, even if it in the SD Card Reader on the computer.. The computer sees the SD card fine, only Sentinel can't see it.
All previous versions of Sentinel see the SD card without an issue.

The computer (Windows Explorer) will list all drives in your computer or connected to it, but.....

Sentinel will only look for any instance of drives connected to your computer that your computer designates as "Removable" drives (either in the scanner or in a card reader) when you check "display all drives" in the Clear User Data function.

There was only one other instance of this exact same problem reported about a year ago, and the consensus was that the computer being used was not registering the types of drives properly. If the computer doesn't register an SD card as a removeable drive (as it should), it won't show up in Sentinel.

As far as previous versions of Sentinel showing the drive with no problem.....

When you are using one of the older versions of Sentinel that does show your SD card properly in the "Display All Drives" box, do all the other drives (hard drives) on your computer show up when you check that box also?

I believe at some point safeguards were put into Sentinel to be sure that only drives that the computer has registered as "removable drives" would be accessible to the Clear User Data function.

If it was a problem soley caused by Sentinel 1.07.05, the forums would have been flooded with reports right from the release date of that version.

Long thread about that one other instance here:

Not a permissions issue.. I see the change log for 1.07 R5 is
1.07.03 --> 1.07.05: Change drive access to prevent clearing primary drive.

As UPMan noted in that other thread, the fact that Sentinel no longer looks for all drives, but is now looking for "removable drives only" may have uncovered an underlying problem with your computer not registering the types of drives properly.

Did you try his suuggestion here:

Also, what Windows version are you using, if Win10 check here:

Thanks... I verified both procedures and they are all working.
I now have both version of Sentinel on my system (v1.07 R3 & v1.07 R5). Revision 3 has no issues with seeing the SD card. I've tried a new SD card, and even formatted both SD cards. Same issue R3 works R5 doesn't. I even tried the suggestion of changing the Drive Letter.. But to no avail..
This is a conundrum.

Correct. As mentioned previously, versions prior to 1.07.05 did not look exclusively for "removable drives", so the problem with your computer not registering the drives properly did not surface with that version.

If you have access to a different computer perhaps you can download and install 1.07.05 to that computer and see if it recognizes the card with the display all drives box. Then you could compare settings between the 2 computers and look for something on your present computer that is preventing the drive from registering properly as a removable drive.

You may want to PM the OP in that other thread and ask what he found (if he found anything) that was causing the same problem with the computer he was using at that time.... Or he may have just moved on to another computer.

When google dell xps and usb problem it reveals a lot of USB problem with the hardware.
You have updated to latest drivers in bios and hardware chipset from dells webpage?
Some people says it helps to turn off WiFi or go to airplane mode that indicate some sort of power issue with the USB ports.

It's a shot in the dark but your problem with the SD card seems so strange and updating all low level drivers wouldn't harm anyhow.

All drivers (to the best of my knowledge), and BIOS are up to date.
I don't have a WiFi card installed.
I can run both sentinel versions at the same time, and 1 works fine, and the other doesn't.
Even tried different USB cables, with the same results
Sent an message to Uniden Support. I'm hoping they have a fix.

Unfortunately, he ended up buying a new computer.
Since I have both revisions installed, I will try to find the fix.

Interesting, but confirms that it was something odd and very unusual on the computer he was using at that time... and that computer was from a different manufacturer than yours.

UPMan did mention that the part of the Sentinel program code that looks for removable drives and excludes other drives from that "clear user data - display all drives" box was put into BCDx36HP Sentinel version 1.07.05 as a safeguard so that users couldn't confuse their primary hard drive for the SD card.

That version was released over a year ago, and Sentinel for the HP1&2 has used that same code since 2009.

With all the copies of those 2 Sentinel versions that are out there, all the different users that own either the HP1&2, 436HP, and the 536HP, and all the widely varied configurations of computers that have been used for those applications over that span of time.... It would probably be a very difficult task to find the specific problem that has affected only 2 computers given the scope of those circumstances.

Some other thoughts (that may have been covered in that other thread)....

Is your card reader connected to your computer by a USB cable? If so, and when you connect your scanner to the computer with the USB cable, are they connected directly to the computer or do they go through a hub?

Also, if your scanner (or card reader) is connected to a USB3 port, does that same computer have a USB2 port you can try?
