I want to start a scanner feed here at my home. I was wondering what Do I need. I have a few radios that I can use. I have a Yaesu FT-7800 and a Icom IC-V8. I did not know if I could use those or I would need another type of radio. Also what kind of software do I need and can I run this like using angelfire as the main webpage?

If somebody could help me out that would be great.

Thank you

I would be very carefully doing this. There is this part of the FCC Rules and Regulations referred to as the Secrecy Act which states that you cannot divulge (repeat to another person) what you hear in a radio reception that is not intended for you (there are some exceptions, such as reception of ordinary broadcasts meant for the general public). I believe the monetary fine is still $10,000 for each and every day an offense occurs.

It sounds like what you want to do is stream audio over the Internet. I'm not a lawyer (although there are probably some people on here who think they are that will dispute my thoughts), but I think the Act would apply to what you want to do.

Get some real legal advice before you get yourself in a lot of trouble, and possibly forfeit a lot of money and your equipment.

Hi Randy,

I'am a amateur radio operator myself. We have talked about it before on simplex. I came close to doing it one night and one of the ham radio operators said you can't do that. I said why. He said because of some FCC Rule. It is legal to put them up on the internet. But you can't say anything on what you have heard from the webpage. But I just wanted to let you know about. Hopefully you understand that.

I would say go for it dude, theres over 900 live scanner feeds in the US and I know of only 2 instances in the past 5 years where the feeder has been threatened legal action if the feed wasn't taken down. Plus the threat was only thru e-mail. The 2 streamers didn't decide to challenge the lawsuit so theres still no "true" answer on whether its truly illegal or not. Most agencies don't mind though.

Why would you even bother responding in this forum about this? This whole forum is specificly for streaming scanners and radios. Guess you don't listen to all the other Ham stations that all stream online either.

As stated, there's about 1000 streaming radios online from all over the place and it doesn't seem like any of them are going anywhere any time soon. And besides, if one goes offline there's usually about 30 others that will soon come online. Besides, back when I first came onto the internet I vaguely remember yahoo broadcasts were one of the very first spots that had streaming scanners. Specificly New York and L.A.

So there really isn't much merit in your post here at all.
