• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Hello,

Using Sentinel with a BCD 436

Trying to understand how to set up WX in Sentinel.

Not too sure of the meaning of FIPS1... thru 8
and SAME1... 4

What freq's do I want to put in these boxes ?
Live in the Boston Metro West area.

After downloading to radio, how do I call them up ?
Are all of them scanned, or would I select a particular one ?

Thanks,
B.

The FIPS Codes are the codes you get from the NWS for the county you are in. The radio decodes them and if a code is sent that matches the code you entered the radio will open.

The freqs are determined when you go into Weather mode.

FIPS 1 thru 8 allows you to enter multiple county codes.
