Hello, can someone help me find the antenna database of what antennas are what and what they are for? There is a new antenna on a hill near me and I believe it is public safety, we have had issues with reception in the area and need help locating what it could/ is being used for, thanks for any help

There really isn't an "antenna database".
Best you could do is look at their FCC licenses and see if they have a repeater licensed for that location.

But, keep in mind, that they don't always install a repeater to fix coverage issues, sometimes they just install a receiver to feed back into the system. And those receivers are not licensed.

If you provided the exact location, someone may be able to assist you. There is an FCC ASR (Antenna Structure Registration) database that you can look at. It's a listing of towers over a certain height/proximity to airports, and won't necessarily tell you who's on the tower.

I’m referring to alabaster area having reception problems with the AIRS, I’ve heard about some issues, not me personally
I live in the hoover area as well and have some issues. I think there is a repeater on the mountain between valleydale road and 119 if you try to aim towards that. Are you still using the stock antenna with the BCD436HP?

if your using the jefferson county simulcast system with you scanner your going to have simulcast modulation issues.
for shelby county the pelham site might be ur best bet . the later model unidens are very bad with simulcast distoration issues .
sadly if you want to hear everything in jefferson county your going to have to use the simulcast system .

If you take the Shelby County control channel frequency and perform an FCC license search by frequency, you can choose a map for the license. Here's the link for the WQYX986 license map ...

Shelby AIRS towers map

That's using the 770.50625 control frequency in Pelham. You can try all the others if you like.

Hoover (Greystone) Shelby 769.58125c
Hoover (Spain Park) Shelby 769.85625c
Pelham Shelby 770.50625c
Montevallo Shelby 769.09375c
Shelby Shelby 771.04375c
Columbiana Shelby 851.750c

Using a Chinese knockoff, Im going to look at getting a actual antenna and I’m sure it will help, just didn’t know if anyone had any info on a new tower

From my contact down there no new towers that have been bulit for the shelby county part of the system . there is talk of a couple new towers being bulit also possiblity of going phase 2 cause of overload this is all talk nothing set in stone . my guess its a cell site. very unlikley if public saftey is on it .99 percent of the time if its a pvt tower rent/ lease must be paid . if you got a bc536 your not going to be able to listen to any simulcast system on that radio . i have tried to use it and its crap. the scan rate is to slow . its garbage for simulcast systems . it can do it but by the time you catch something its in the middle or a reply . plus if you want to hear donald duck on meth or crack talking all day more power to you lol
