Hello all, I started listening in to the shortwave frequencies using a Eton mini and a Grundig G4000 (with external indoor antenna). Son far the results have been underwhelming, I was wondering if there are any shortwave listeners out my way and what kind of things you hear and when. I have read of many others hearing some pretty cool things, just wondering I could do the same here

It's a little tough to gauge precisely what you're listening for, but if it's broadcasts, check out our friends at the Ontario DX Association (note that links are always blue)

Lots of good solid info from your neck of the woods...Mike

Hello.

I am by no means an expert on shortwave listening but I have been a listener for a number of years very casually, 35-40 years and I live in the GTA.

I have a Realistic DX-440 and I am looking to come up with another antenna for it to pull in more distant signals, airplanes, marine, utility.

I live in an apartment building and am surrounded by concrete and antennas for cell towers.

Many years ago when I lived in Montreal I was much more into SW DX-ing, I would hear stations as far away as Australia in the morning and euro stations and sadly, all kinds of very boring to me, religious stations in North America.

I also was able to hear the air traffic as it crossed the atlantic, north around Shanwick to Gander and south from the Azores to New York.

What are you going to use for antenna? Does your radio have side band capabilities?

I would look into a indoor active loop antenna Eric with your situation.
