Doing some research on Loop antenna's for my Shortwave receiver and ran across these two loop antenna's, I post these just for information for people and do not endorse these products, One Is in Canada
Steve

LA-390 [AOR-LA380] - $510.00 : Radioworld

and the other is

MFJ Magnetic Loop

Very interesting designs, but still very expensive to buy.

Yes - i was just looking the MFJ-1788 over and considering it - but it is a bit
on the pricey side - almost $500, but it would fit in my attic so that is why i
am interested in it.

Yea, I have also been looking at the Wellbrook and Pixel Loops but have not made up my mind, it's a hard decision to make especially when spending that kind of money, I think I'll wait and see if I can find anything else.

So far I am very impressed with my Pixel loop. Noise floor low across the board. Conditions the past few nights have been absolutely in the toilet, but from what I've seen so far it matches right up with the Wellbrook. It only took a couple days for me to receive the antenna and I finally got it up over the weekend.

Here are a couple recordings from the Pixel loop connected to an Icom IC-R75.
Sample 1 - Singapore wkg Asian Express flight en route to Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia
Sample 2 - Singapore, Manila and several aircraft. I just love how everybody talks over each other :D
These were recorded on 8942kHz around 1400z from my location in California. Distance over 7,000 miles.

My older audio clips are from the Wellbrook ALA1530. Both antennas are fantastic and you can't go wrong with either of them. For people that live in residential areas like myself they are a godsend.

Hi Lino. I am glad to hear you have received the ALA330. Look forward to seeing how it compares to the ALA1530 since I almost bought one of those originally. 73 Brandon

There is a nice 2 page review of the Pixel loop in the Eton E1 Yahoo group posted by Seur (Bob) D'Armadilleaux..I'm trying to get permission to copy it into our antennas wiki as it's a bit too long to put here.

Bottom line - if you have the money it's an antenna well worth the effort to put it together...73 Mike

Hi Brandon the Wellbrook-ALA330S is up on the pole 6 metres high doing an excellent job on hf aero/utilities been testing for the past week came to the conclusion that a rotator would do an excellent job on the loop some stations that i heard when different directions where coming in at full strength heard volmet in canada on 6754 which i have never been able to hear even when i had my Rf Systems Dx-One
Pro MkII.

Regards Lino.
