I received a text Tuesday 3-12-19 at 5:45 pm that he had very unfortunately passed away earlier this afternoon.
He had been admitted to UH and while there suffered a heart attack and never recovered from that tragic event.
I really wish for him, his family and friends that there would have been some way to intervene and save his life !
When I would visit his house he was always very friendly and jolly and had a wealth of knowledge to share, etc.
He was a long time presence in our South Texas Ham and Radio Scanning community and will be greatly missed!
His dedicated monitoring with Pro-Voice capable scanners kept him busy submitting IPN Incidents for Bexar Co.
John also graciously hosted the San Antonio Bexar County NOAA Weather Radio WXK67 Broadcastify feed for us.

John joined Radioreference way back in Jan 19, 2001. Can't get to much earlier than that of Lindsay in Dec 2000 ;)

John and I corresponded quite a bit. A real sharp guy and always in the know. He reached out to me right when I moved here to the SATX area almost 20 years ago, and I chatted with him just a few days before his death.

Very sad to hear about John.
