Picking up all kind of stuff on Lowband VHF.

42.1 156.7 - Police
42.26 151.4
39.44 110.9
46.12 CSQ/or DCS Fire/EMS
46.46 206.5 Fire/EMS
33.94 210.7 Fire/EMS - Mountain Time Zone

39.08 110.9 Police
46.46 162.2 Fire/EMS
39.42 110.9

the only one I was somewhat able to identify, was 33.86/77.0
they said something about Nolanville and Nolanville Road, and I know for sure it was in eastern timezone.

I just got done experiencing some similar behavior in NE Missouri. Here's what I've been able to come up with thus far:

42.1 167.9 PL - Police (Possibly West VA Troop 1)
42.1 156.7 - Police (Possibly West VA Troop 4)
42.26 151.4 (Possibly West VA Troop 3)
42.38 141.3 (heard some on here too, but haven't been able to pin it down)
42.94 Appeared to be most if not all of the MSHP (which is usually spread out across most of the 42.00 block).
42.64 (Possibly Florida)

There were a few others but those are all that I could find some possible info for.

I usually get the opposite...

I live in North Carolina, and seem to get the Missouri Highway Patrol everytime there's a storm front on the western slope of the Appalachians, especially in VHF low (42.00 - 42.94). Not sure why I specifically get Missouri on a frequent basis...

The MO HWY Patrol can be heard for a pretty far distance, but that's pretty impressive lol

Numerous hits from the Missouri here today on 42 MHz as well. Some signals were around S9+40 on my AR5000 receiver. I was wondering if I'd hear any transmissions related to the weather, but didn't. It looked like most of the bad weather was in the northwestern part of the state when I was listening. What I was hearing was to the east of that.

Missouri is an almost daily event here during skip season, sometimes into the late evening. It's faded out now, but it may well come back again. Fun stuff.

For those that said they heard the Missouri Highway Patrol today, around what time was it happening? When I was experiencing the skipping from other states (around 5-6PM EDT), it appeared that Missouri was experiencing problems with their system and the entire state was using a single freq. (42.94). Many of their other frequencies were filled with out of state conversations. As of now, they appear to be back to normal, except they appear to be operating at a slightly higher power than normal still.

For me most of those faded about an hour after I posted this thread.

Both Troop I (Rolla) and Troop D (Springfield) were using the 'regular' frequencies.

The reason I decided to search VHF-Lo, was b/c I heard something other than Troop D on one of their dispatch frequencies, and I could even hear both side of the conversation at the time.

I worked South Carolina from Kansas on 50.125 USB using an FT-817 and a 5 foot back of the radio whip antenna from inside the house! So, yea... the bands were good today.

Around 7:15 pm , the best time seems to be the hour before sunset.

39.44 110.9
46.12 CSQ/or DCS Fire/EMS
39.28 110.9 Police
39.08 110.9 Police
39.42 110.9

The three 39 Mhz freqs with the Pl of 110.9 would most likely be Maryland State Police, since they are used by MSP and that is PL code used on most the freqs. 39.440 Mhz would be the freq for MSP for most of the Baltimore Beltway. If 46.12 Mhz is CSQ is could be Prince George County, Md Fire Dispatch.

Hope that helps you out.

I don't want to discourage discussion of anyone's tentative logs. I also enjoy the dialogue.

But, if you are a "premium subscriber" on Radio Reference, the database query feature can be alot of help when trying to identify unknown agencies you hear.

For instance, 33.86 / 77.0 is likely Washington Co, Md fire.

But, the database is only as good as the contributions made by RR members and users. So, if you have somethiing to share with your state moderators, please do so. Even adding tone information. or how a licensee uses a frequency, can be a big help to others.

As "Hill" previously posted, some of "BaLa's" other logs also appear to tentatively be from the Maryland area. It would not surprise me, "BaLa," if the ones we cannot identify were transmitting from locations to the east of Missouri.

46.46 is used for dispatch/page of Albemarle County (Charlottesville) fire in VA, they also send fire out on rescue calls. Not sure if they use tone on it. Somewhere west of DC in the suburbs used to use it too, as well as Chesterfield (Richmond area) but I think both of those are gone. We used to hear a county in NC, Rockingham I think it was.

I got 46.46 this morning in Bolivar, Mo about 9:30 AM. It faded a couple of times, but was quite clear most of the time. Definitely a Fire/ EMS dispatcher. Also was picking up a Mexican voice on a lower freq, but I was driving and forgot it before I had a chance to write it down.
