To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

SL7550 (non e) firmware update

I have an SL7550 that is currently on firmware R02.06.11 and I am trying to update the radio to at least R02.10.10 so that I can add it to a current version of RM. I have installed the update package from MyView and both CPS2 and CPS16 are not recognizing the update. From what I have been reading I will need an intermediate firmware to get from R02.06 up to R02.10, but I am having a hard time tracking down anything other that what I have in my MyView account (nothing older that R02.10).

Are there any tips or tricks on getting an older firmware updated?

You probably want R2.09.01 which IIRC was the last firmware of R16. You may be able to get it by opening a case on MyView to have it added. You may find it elsewhere in the wild. Once you're at 2.09, you should be able to bump to R2.10.

I’ve tried to get 2.09 from Motorola through a ticket. I’ll try calling them tomorrow. In the meantime, are there any any other sources of that firmware that you can think of? I’ll also start reaching out to a few local radio shops to see if they have it.

I believe you actually need to get an old version of CPS & R07 firmware, jump to that, and then R02.10.

They reformated something in the device during that build and it's a required move just like R02.10 is before you can go to M20 anything.

Did anyone figure this out, ever?
I have a non e SL7550 and I can't for the life of me get it to update at all. It's model H81QCB9NA2AN, and on firmware R02.40.00, but I would like to bring it up to R02.09 if possible. Any tips appreciated.
