I was told about the SSTV. Several years ago I thought this was really neat. All you need is a decent pc the software and a cable to get started. Send and receive pictures. I could see where it might get boring after some time. I will have to try it one day just to say I did it. Has anyone had good experience with SSTV?

SSTV is another fun aspect of amateur radio. It's reasonably busy on 14230 kHz. I use DM780 which is a program that is bundled with HRD. You could probably find the free version of HRD floating around somewhere or pay for their supported version. There's also MMSTV which is free too. MMSTV supports PD180 which is what the International Space Station will use to send SSTV of late.

I use a Kenwood 480 and a Signalink connected to a laptop. There's even an iOS application that works very well. It costs a few dollars. You could send/receive over most any radio using that device and app, although I wouldn't tie up a repeater doing that.
