The more Trunking Sites the slower the Scan.
The more the Frequencies the slower the Scan.
Setup your Favorites List and only have a list turned on when you are in range to hear it. This keeps your scan cycles much smaller and faster.
There are reasons I have over 20 Scanners Operating at home I have scanners setup to hear 1 County only that covers 10 Scanners 1 Scanner for Jackson THP 1 Scanner for Memphis THP 1 Scanner for Nashville THP. You get the idea.

my trx1 is scanning very slow. squelch is at the recommended setting. i have some trunked systems in. idk what’s happening.
How do you check that it scans slow? The display only show what systems are enabled to scan and not the actual rate at what they are scanned at.

If you go to Program Menu/Global Settings you will find IF Out: and set that to HP and connect earphones to your scanner and listen to how it scans. You should hear at what scan rate it goes thru channels. For DMR/NXDN it scans the voice channels of a trunked system and for P25 it has to dwell on its control channel for a while to check if any calls are active on the site and that will slow down scan, as all control channel trunk tracking will do.

The WS1040 & 1065 were released years after Phase-II became a standard. Kind of intriguing to me why they were unable to adapt to the technology at that time

The 1065 should not even decode Phase 2
Well it will only decode FDMA talkgroups (mode "D") on a Phase-II capable system, but that's it. Throw simulcast distortion into the mix and it will struggle greatly to do so...

Whiskey that would be because they were the same GRE 500 / 600 Radioshack 197 / 106 Scanners that replace the Pro96 Pro2096 scanners that were released before Phase 2. The only Phase 2 Scanners for Whistler were the SD Card Based Scanners.
