470.8375 is the citywide repeater for S.O.D. and is located on the GE building in NYC, 482.4875 is the Staten Island repeater for S.O.D. and is located on the State Police tower on Todt Hill. You are probabaly closer to Staten Island and thats why you are able to hear it better.

The Same applies to:
Highway = SI- Highway
CW1 = SI-CW1
CW2 = SI-CW2
CW3 = SI- CW3
CW4 = SI-CW4

Hope this helps!

7112,

My notes show that the old Citywide 4 - SI frequency has been redeployed to be the Patrol Borough Staten Island channel. The old PBSI - South channel has been taken off the air in anticipation of it being used as a Transit Bureau division channel and the old PBSI - North channel has been taken off the air - expected use unknown.

When they reallocated the channel, was the PL assignment changed, too? I was in NYC yesterday and heard plenty of traffic on CW1 through CW3, but not a peep on CW4 from anyone.

Dave,

You are correct, sir. My notes show 482.4125 (the old CW4-SI, now the current PBSI) going from 123.0 to 100.0. As to the volume of radio traffic to be expected on CW4 - once again you are correct...while the channel is available in a limited number of radios for use, the frequency is primarily used for testing (i.e. digital mode) - and right now no tests are being conducted.
