Since January 2021 I no longer can hear Fairfield, Vacaville and Suisin traffic for Police.
I figured they went to an encoded signal? But today on the app Scanner Radio Pro I am hearing the PD again. I have updated my full database for the BCD436HP thru the Sentinel program and once downloaded I then applied it to the radio.
Still...I have not been able to hear my local PD.
Does anyone know what I may be doing wrong?
Thank you and happy scanning!!

Make sure you have Law Dispatch turned on in your Service Types. I would also stop on the channel(s), look closely at it/them, and be sure you didn't accidentally lock anything out with the Avoid button. I'm thinking you may have possibly turned off the Service type you are trying to listen to?

Hopefully it's something fast and simple like that :)

Thank you for the response...I did make sure that there are no avoids on any channels.
I tried scanning in both the Full Data Base as well as making a favorite and adding just Solano County to it. I know there is traffic because I can hear it on the scanner app, but my radio does not make a peep on those channels. I just wonder how the provider for Scanner Radio Pro was able to get the channels back. Thanks again to you both for the responses.
Cheers

I suddenly lost all Vacaville/Fairfield/Suisun traffic too. I think it all has migrated to SCRCTS (Solano County Regional Communication Trunked System). I reprogrammed with my scanner with that new system and I think I’m getting everything again.

I’m not sure the old system (past 10+ years) and frequencies should still be in the radio reference database. Still in there because the licenses are still active.

Which scanner do you have?
I will have to look at Sentinel again and see if they added SCRCTS to the database.

Thank you for that tip!

I am comparing what I hear on the app Scanner Radio Pro to what I am now getting on my scanner and it is not the same. I am missing a bunch of traffic. I have a Uniden BCD436HP and I used the software Sentinel to get and load the new frequencies.
I tried to export my fav list to a .hpe file but I cannot load that here for some reason.
Annoying. I paid way too much for this scanner to not have it be useful lol.

And just like that the scanner on the app has gone offline lol...maybe I just need to go outside and take a walk today.

You can't compare the old MOT analog system to the new P25 Phase I system. Looking at the DB it looks like it is a simulcast system. Believe me I've run into this before. For me it was using a BCD992P2 or PSR-500 on such a system, and I knew I was missing calls. Once I got my SDS-100 and compared, it was clear how lacking other models are on receiving these type of systems. Yeah, it works for some. But that's likely because they're only receiving from a single site (or at least it overpowers the others).

I made an adjustment and changed my antenna out. In the menu go to Select Service Type then scroll down to Interop and toggle ON.
Between these two changes, I am now getting all of the PD channels as well as the local CHP and Sheriff's office. The CHP comes in on the Interop side. I still see my antenna strength jumping up and down from zero to full, but only on certain channels...not a big deal.
I am now on the hunt for an SDS-100! Keep this BCD436HP as a backup...or leave it at work. Overall I like the BCD436HP... it's super easy to use and I have the GPS and power adapters for it as well.

Another point; regardless of scanner model. When it comes to a trunked system, regardless of type; if you're scanner is not monitoring the control channel, conversations will likely be missed. I don't even mix conventional channels with a trunked system. I dedicate one scanner to ONLY monitoring a trunked system to avoid missing calls. Of course, you'll still miss call B while listening to call A.

To post an .hpe here, you need to either zip into an archive or rename it to a .txt file. Then you can post here.

So I just got the new SDS-100 and programmed it. WOW...I was missing so much on the newly adopted simulcast system in Fairfield. I am so impressed with this SDS scanner.

Just got my SDS and set it up...what a difference! Glad I got the recommendation for this scanner from you and others. Its a game-changer.
