Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Some Minitor VI pagers won't accept custom audio

I can program frequencies and tones with no issue. However, when trying to upload custom audio, the upload only takes on some pagers. In the programming software, after I upload and click on the play button which plays the audio through the pager, custom audio plays. But when I change the ABC.... button, it's the standard "Selective call frequency one tone" speech. Audio files are in .WAV format, 8 kHz, mono, and 16 bit PCM. I used Audacity to create the files. They're named. F1, F2, F3, AV, AT, MON, SCAN and EMS.

I thought it was a firmware issue but some of the pagers are FW 1.05 and others 1.09 or whatever the latest is, I'm not in front of that computer.

Any thoughts or suggestions? It seems older pagers generally don't have the issue. Just newer ones. I can provide more information if needed.

Thanks for any insight.

edit: I should add, I did re-install the programming software and tried on another computer. Same issue.

Try one of these sites to make your voice files.

Is it possible that some of the non-playing files are larger sized voice files? I've seen that be an issue before. It appears that your coding is correct - especially if the same file is already playing properly on other pagers. Try to see if a shorter version of the file will play on those units you are having an issue with.

Interesting issue! So the software plays the custom audio fine, but the newer pagers just revert have you noticed if it’s all files or only some? I wonder if it could be a file size or memory thing with the newer units.

the new pager does not play any of the custom audio. My file sizes are only a few K. But as I said, plays "over" the pager from the software fine. I'm going to try some of the links above for encoding.

My file sizes range from 10k-20k. None of them work.
