Some sort of metal bracket for mounting TRX-2 head?

Hey all - just got my TRX-2 in the mail today. Haven't fired it up yet (trying to *actually* wait for Christmas) but popped the head off to play around a bit, and I'm guessing I'm not going to have a great amount of luck getting it to magnetically stay anywhere useful on the dash of my 2013 GMC Sierra. Any chance anybody's using something like this to mount the faceplate where you want?

I don't mind screwing into the dash but I'd like to avoid the thick snake coming up from the floor if I can help it.

Thanks all!

I like that cable tube - great idea.

Looks like the mount in the photo requires a "T" bar to receive the magnets on the head.

For my install, I used double-sided tape and two simple washers to create a magnetic surface to attach the head to the dash. I actually put the washers directly over the CD player slot (I don't use CDs in the truck much anymore).

Very similar to the way I used to have everything mounted in my S10:
