I finally remembered to get the number off of the mic. The sticker says KMC-41.
All that I found directly from Kenwood is a bare mention of the MilSpec KMC-41M.
Kenwood - KMC-41M
Other places have listed a mic as KMC-41 without the 'M'. It doesn't really matter much to me.
One of the guys said that he thought this mic would handle a mic/speaker combo headset. I think he was thinking of the other mics that we were using that were Savox C-C500, I think,
Savox Group - Products - Products designed to enhance professional performance and had the larger connector plug on them that would handle the headsets that they had.
I have seen description that says the KMC-41 mic comes standard with a 3.5mm earpiece jack for external earpiece. I assume that means listen only. ??
Anybody know for sure?
A handheld speaker mic too often gets too far from the ear to get all the messages that might be critical. Attached to a lapel or eppulet on a shoulder is closer.
I don't want an ear bud that is always falling out.
I don't want an IN-ear speaker tube that blocks off other sound from getting to that ear.
I don't want a speaker attached to a helmet, a helmet is not always on.
I wouldn't mind a throat mic if it works well and reliably and consistantly. There is still the listen part that I have only found a D-shaped ear hanger seems to satisfy.
I wouldn't mind an ear mic if it will work well and reliably and consistantly, but I think they have to fit too tight in the ear to get the mic part to work that it blocks hearing in that ear.
I think I am wanting a D-shaped ear hanger speaker. I can remember to put the microphone up when I need to talk.
