Splinter systems

I was reading some older posts about spliter systems in San Diego. Are there still splinter systems in use there and has anyone successfully monitored trunk using a BC-396T? I just got a 396 and am looking forward to our next vacation in Puerto Vallarta, México in November. There are 2 trunked systems that can be monitored in the city and both are splinter systems. Prior to now I was using Trunker to tract the systems and 2 scanners to follow the comms [there are only 3 channels in the city system]. Any information will be much appreciated.

The San Diego TRS system is splinter. This handles SDPD, SDFD, Community College PD and City Schools PD among others.

any 800 system within 70 miles of the border must use the frequencies from the so called spllinter pool.

Splinter Systems

Some Motorola trunked systems are configured to have each frequency shift
down 12.5-KHz from the "normal" value. For example, in a normal system
hex 01A is 851.6625, but in a splinter system hex 01A is 851.650.

Im in a splinter.. no probs here...

Hi i have a 396t also and am so new at this its pathetic really..
.... but.. that aside... have programed and set up my fav system here as MOTsplintered 800 with tons of activity. I am in el centro area of imperial valley ok brawley but no one ever knows where that is.. not being sure 100% if it was splintered or not, (since i have read online it is then its not etc.etc..) i just farted around and programmed in a few test systems to see how much activity i got on what..and my splintered is smooth sailing. im close to the mexican border in calexico... about uh... 15 min north -puerto vallarta is fun... ! u are so lucky....
oh.. in our local paper yesterday there was a nationwide dea op and el centro was a big part of it...operation imperial falcon or close to that...... and did i have my scanner on??.... noooo figures... i was sooo mad... not sure if i could have gotten any juicy stuff but wish i at least had it on..
