I know that the Stanford Heights Fire Department is in both Albany County (Colonie) and Schenectady County (Niskayuna). How do their radio operations work? I know I've heard Niskayuna dispatch them on 154.385 (Colonie) to EMS calls at the Glen Eddy (in Niskayuna). Does all their paging occur on 154.385 (fire too)? The Wiki shows they also have tones on Schenectady County Fire Dispatch (460.575)...do they also get dispatched on that frequency? When they respond in Colonie, I know they are on Colonie talkgroups. If the call is in Schenectady County, are they on 453.500?

I’m not 100% sure but I believe colonie creates a patch for the uhf channel. As far as paging goes the UCC(Schenectady co) pages on their own uhf .575 channel then activates Stanford Heights on colonies page channel

SRLFD-613 is correct about paging. We have two radios in the apparatus Albany County and Schenectady County. So depending on location it's either radio. We'll be on the frequency for were we're dispatched.

I thought Niskayuna had their own transmitter on .385. The patched signal is so much weaker than Colonie's transmissions.

Not sure how UCC patches thru to 385 but you are right the signal is weak with a slight delay from Schenectady County dispatch to the pager. I sometimes never receive a page but that might be that it's a minitor VI I rely on I am responding.

Thanks all for the replies. Checking the FCC database, Schenectady County does not have a license on 154.385, but Colonie does at Stanford Heights Station 1. Perhaps the UCC tones from a transmitter there (via remote link), or perhaps it is an automated replay (the tones on UHF activate an automatic replay page on VHF).

SHFD59: I assume all your pagers are VHF so you also get Colonie’s pages?

I was under the impression that Stanford Heights operated a "record and forward" type repeater that activates when tones are received.
