The STARS radio tech are testing radio coverage in the "Ocean Front" area on TG 6 (Blue 1). The unit is talking to the "NOC". They are trying to transmit from various locations and "forcing" different towers.

For example, when they were in Virginia Beach and would normally affiliate with the Chesapeake tower, I could not hear the mobile unit, but I could hear the NOC. However, when they forced an affiliation with the Hampton tower (which I can receive), I could hear both sides of the conversation.

The mobile unit advised that these tests were in response to complaints about poor radio coverage.

I don't know if this has some relation to testing or if a unit from Chesapeake Division was affiliated with the Fork Mt. Tower, but the last 2 mornings I've copied VSP Chesapeake on Fork Mountain. Pretty good from the eastern part of the state to the western (only 12 miles from WVa).

I've also copied the NOC on some radio maint. talk groups.

Waverly (Site 113 Active)

Hi Folks,

According to PRO-96 COM Site (113 Waverly is shown as connected and active).

I am too far away to get a cc dump on it but according to PRO96COM it is up.

Anyone close enough that can get a CC dump from that site?

Note:

The Hampton site always shows it is connected to more sites than Chesapeake.

Hampton is currently connected to
Petersburg (102)
Williamsburg (112)
Waverly (113)
Chesapeake (114)
Emporia (115)
Franklin (116)
Burgess (121)
Eastville (122)

Chesapeake is currently connected to
Hampton (111)
Waverly (113)
Franklin (116)
Eastville (122)

I know that site 113 is Waverly from some reading I have done on other sites.
