I usually listen tom the VA State police from the Emporia Virginia tower site. I can no longer hear them. Have they gone encrypted?

Recieving VSP (CUL, FFX, & RIC) and SSP (TAC 4, 8, & 9) in the clear off the Independent Hill site from Stafford using a BCD996P2 connected to a Smilely 5/8 Slim Duck antenna tuned for 155 MHz.

I think we have a variety of STARS message threads. I think I can post here. It seems that one of the Callsigns for the Thornburg site is inaccurate. I can't find a callsign for the primary control channel on 152.0975.

Yes I saw that and It seemed odd to me that a license for a P25 talkgroup was licensed as a pager frequency.

Is it possible they have a repeater for the pagers on the same tower, or through the same system? If you run the GPS coordinates through the FCC database it will show as that tower?

No it is not paging--FCC records can be had to interpret. Those frequencies were auctioned off and used for STARS, See

Thanks, I knew someone was a better research wiz than I on FCC websites. I saw something similar with failure to build memos with GCC police frequencies.

I heard two transmissions from the Emporia VA site two weeks ago. I live less than six air miles below Greensville County. I am not sure why I am not hearing them. I hope they have just changed their control channels.

STARS has mostly (always?) used those frequencies as control channels for the trunked system.
