Someone posted a map showing the territory covered by each state police troop sometime ago. I've search but can't find it. Any help to locate this would be appreciated. Now that I have a Uniden Home Patrol, I would like to be able to identify each of the troops I am receiving. Thanks!

With the budget issues, the CSP laying off troopers and moving other troopers out of special units into troops for patrol, rumor is that troop B and troop I will be closed.

Should be interesting

Pink slips went out to the troopers, guy I work with said his step-daughter got the notice yesterday. As for I & B, that rumor has been around even before I worked dispatch at I, but with good ol' Dan / Daniel / Dannel / whatever his first name is month, who know what he's gonna close. Four DMV full service offices are closing so I would be 50% sure they would close a troop, its ridiculous but anything is possible.

This could be a thread all on it's own.

With Troops standing roll call, it would be a long wait for a trooper at shift change in the outlying areas now served by B and I.

Troop W still runs along side of the Airport Police. With the DOT breaking off the airport to a "quasi-government" agency (like the MDC or CRRA), they might be push up the plans to add more Airport Police and close Troop W.

Also, they certainly don't need all the dispatch centers they have now (12+NCC). But to do it correctly, it needs to be planned out and proper facilities be built. But, that is not how government works today.

I thought that well managed police departments ran their shift changes in staggered fashion so that the patrolled areas were never completely without coverage. Do I infer that CSP brings everyone into the barracks at shift change so that no one is in the field for, say, an hour or more? Seems like an unwise way to run the show. Years ago in my town (Roxbury) we had a Resident Trooper who worked 40 hours per week and reported via radio when he went on and off duty. Has this changed?

I believe different barracks do different things. Troop H regularly has roll call but they are mainly traffic cops except for East Granby. Many towns that have residents probably don't lose the troopers for roll call but I am not sure. Also many times, a good call is likely to be covered by the guys going home as they still have take home cars.
I have had to wait for a Trooper from Troop B to come all the way to East Hartland (32 miles) for a drunk with a gun call. Troop L would not have added much if any distance.

I for the first time am in an area with a resident trooper. Its my experience they only respond to the most top priority calls at times; and if busy you'll be left high and dry. Your basic annoyance calls may never be answered and many time haven't. The troopers are stretched so thin and some of the calls have to be made to Encon as we have state forests and preserves surrounding us.

Its the way it is in the suburbs.

Latest ***Rumor*** I heard..
Central Dispatch - 1 Location - Entire State
Barracks down to 3 or 4 at most. Using the District Lines.
There will be no roll calls.
Arrests will be brought right to Correction / Detention Centers - (What ever still remain open)

Cant wait to see how this plays out.

God that would be the smartest thing ever done in the state. Some counties out west are bigger than CT and do it all with 1 dispatch center and a processing center for arrests.

But really we could do 3 troops and 3 dispatch centers EASY
