Can you tell me what P25 is?

Would a Pro-97 Handheld scanner pick that up?

I looked in the index of the manuel and couldn't find P25.

Thanks for help though, I will see if they work. :)

Ok, Thanks.

I guess I will try and sell this one, and save some money so I can buy a digital scanner.

Can Digital Scanners pickup analog freqs to? I think they can, not sure.

I don't know what is better, a base or handheld digital scanner.

Yes, a "digital" scanner will scan both P25 as well as analog frequencies.
"Better" is subjective to which you need... either to be able to take it with you or if it will be a base station or mounted in a vehicle.

I have the Uniden 396T. It is a digital scanner so I am able to pick up the DPS, although it hardly seems worth it. There seems to be little traffic that can be picked up in Corpus and most of that is plain 'ol license checks.

Thanks for the border Patrol freqs, I had no idea what they were. I also thought that Port Aransas went to an encrypted edacs system.
