Does anybody have any idea what freight the Strasburg RR does? Especially the covered hoppers. I know NS comes up to Paradise Leaman Jct and moves cars at no night from sidings eastboun.

It's become more and more common for single carload shipments for non-utility use. Particularly from small anthracite mines in northeastern PA. When you see the Reading & Northern's covered hoppers, that's usually what the shipment is. You'd be surprised how many people still use coal stoves. Car load coal, particularly lower rank coal, also is used considerably in agriculture in the gasification process when producing fertilizer.
When they finally get the freight facility at Lehman Junction completed, they'll be expanding their transload services there also. They've outgrown the yard in East Strasburg Yard.
