Anybody know when Waterloo Fire is supposed to take over dispatching Stratford Fire? I haven’t been hearing Stratford Fire the last few days. I'm not in Stratford/Perth County.
The way it works now is Hall #1 where the dispatcher is located, picks up the phone and calls over to Hall #2. That is why you only hear whatever truck they are running that day out of Hall#2 come on the air and tell dispatch where they are going.Stratford halls are manned 24/7. Since Stratford is on their own frequency, they can just do a regular key up to dispatch the halls. I believe that's how they do it now. I have never heard any type of page or station alert. Stratford has two fire halls. It will be interesting to see what changes. I'll be monitoring for any test pages or calls.
Hhhmmmm, I was told that Stratford are to switch over to Kitchener Fire dispatch on August 26 and that they were not getting new radios.Has anyone near Stratford picked up any digital signals on the fire channels or other frequencies in or near Stratford? I noticed that Kitchener Fire has a TG 1902 on the Waterloo Region P25 system. They mentioned that it was a test of the Stratford station alerting. Bearcom also spoke on the other side, and it sounded clear like it was on P25 or maybe DMR on the other end, or some form of digital.
The testing was captured by a Broadcastify calls feed.Hhhmmmm, I was told that Stratford are to switch over to Kitchener Fire dispatch on August 26 and that they were not getting new radios.
Hey Gary, could they have everybody switch to the OFM channel?I replied in the Waterloo region thread about the radios etc. I will make a trip out to Stratford over the weekend and see if I can find out anything more.
I doubt they will be transitioning to P25. The equipment appears to be Motorola DMR type radios. They still have several Kenwoods active and they may have the DMR mode enabled. My guess is that they have installed a P25 radio at the fire hall and have it linked to the VHF frequency.
It will be interesting to see how they handle a mutual aid call with Shakespeare, St Marys, Sebringville. Kitchener does not appear to have any way of switching to the Perth County tac channels. Stratford would have to talk to the Owen Sound Dispatcher and have them relay back to Kitchener or the Stratford units would have to switch back and forth between Perth County and Stratford(Kitcheher) dispatches to keep them in the loop.
