According to the local paper, the recent proposal by Strathroy-Caradoc Police & Fire for radio upgrades has been approved. The work has been tendered to Spectrum Communications with SCFD getting an additional ops channel, while the PD will be receiving addition channels as well as migrating to digital within the next 4 to 6 months.

Well, since the contract is going to Spectrum Communications which is a Motorola dealer, it's probably safe to assume they will be switching to IMBE. Hopefully they won't encrypt though. However, that is clearly the way public safety comms will be going. There's a large public safety system in Ontario which is just around the corner from "the switch" so to speak, I suspect once they go - it's just a matter of time for everyone else.
