WS1040: STUCK ON CPU SW UPGRADE MODE

I have a whistler 1040 and its stuck on the cpu sw upgrade mode. How do I get out of this?

Hi & welcome to the RR forums. Perhaps turn the scanner off & on?

You have lost the CPU firmware. Save the attached zipped file to your computer and extract. Connect your scanner to your computer with the USB cable and run the extracted program.

I did as you suggested and it said the scanner contains no application code.
And to add to this the scanner got stuck doing what you suggested the first time. I hope I havent ruined it

If the scanner says it has no application code, this will reload the firmware. Make sure your cable is plugged into the PC/IF jack, not the headphone jack, and the plug is fully inserted. If you have a mono adapter on the end of the cable, remove it. The 1040 requires a TRS stereo plug. Try running the program again. When did I suggest doing this the first time?
