I have Suffield PD in my scanner at work, and just now I am hearing 1 patrol unit talking in digital mode. Their radios are obviously programmed for mixed mode receive, as I can hear the other units/dispatch, just one patrol unit is broadcasting in digital. Anyone know the NAC for Suffield PD?

EMS is/was paged on their EMS repeater for quite awhile. The reason for the page on Police 1 was that was the only real repeater in town back when the radio system was built - and the EMS pagers had 155.73 in them. With the advent of newer pagers, the EMS repeater etc etc, it wasn't as big of a deal. The pages were sent CSQ so you didn't blast the cops out of the car when the tones were dropped.

It was never really changed as a few people on Suffield EMS were whiners and complainers and had some political infuence on the police commission and the town (they can NEVER do any wrong).

I haven't listened to them in awhile now due to a location change, but just curious if anyone is absolutely sure its SPD and not the othe nearby MA depart that also (or did) operate on 155.73.

The radio system that is/was in place is all orginal when the PD was built. MSF5000's, SpectraTAC receivers and DVP-XL encryption, Spectra radios and HT1250's were last known in use with analog Sabers with DVP-XL for the supervisors (which I believe have since been retired). I am pretty sure I saw an XTS5000 M2 last time I was there, but was there for a social visit than offical.

Very comfortable saying that it is Suffield PD in mixed mode.

I'm hearing the same thing. Sounds like the police units are all digital while dispatch is still broadcasting in analog. The dispatcher talking sounded like the usual Suffield one, so I am almost positive in saying that it's Suffield and not any other Massachusetts town using the new digital system.

FD is also capable of P25. They have $134 as their NAC. I logged SFD on 156.0750 $134 and DPL134 yesterday.
