Hello All,

I'm pretty new to scanners, bought my first handheld a year or so ago. I asked in the new members forum about this and I was directed here.

I'm planning on putting a mobile in my truck within the next six months, and was wondering what people thought worked well for the Puget Sound area.

I have to say, I really like the idea of the HP, but it's clear from the reviews on this site that it's not ready for consumption.

I looked at the specs of the BCD996, but it was suggested to me that a model from RS would be fine.

Thanks for the suggestions!

The HP1 is ready for prime time. Poeple are just trying to tweek the bugs that the RR Database and HP1 have. Your handheld should do just fine in your vehicle. I made a simple mount for my hand held scanner that fits into the cup holder. I have an inexpensive mag mount and I am able to pick up transmissions quite well.
