Ever since I got a Bluetooth transmitter for my SDS100 it gets constant use. The audio sounds so much better than the little speaker in the scanner, but the best part is being able to take the speaker into any room of the house while the scanner stays hooked up to the larger antenna in the den. I don't think I can ever go back. I am WAS thinking though of switching it out to an FM transmitter though so I can could roam all around the property as the Bluetooth gadget has a limited range. However, I'm thinking that << THIS FM TRANSMITTER >> is severe "overkill" and might will get me into trouble as I don't know the legalities of retransmitting police frequencies on the air that may go a mile or more.

** NEVER MIND **

I looked it up, Amazon is selling that thing which has way too much power to be used legally in the U.S.

That's a dang good idea! (y) I wonder why I didn't think about that? It would even give me the benefit of seeing what was on the scanners display, but the audio might be a little sketchy. I'll look into this a bit more. << THIS ONE >> "claims" a 960 foot range, which is better than 30 feet from a Bluetooth device, but even if it was half of that at 480 feet it would still be a drastic improvement.

Yeah, and those FRS radios you get at Walmart have a 30 mile range, too.

I was thinking of https://www.amazon.com/VTech-DM221-...keywords=intercom&qid=1583548288&sr=8-20&th=1

for myself.

Thanks

Yes, for audio only it looks interesting, but I see two issues. The first, there is no direct connection, it relies on the microphone, which will also pick up household noise as well. If I set it next to my SDS100, with its sub-par speaker, picked up by a tiny microphone and transmitted to yet another tiny speaker... well, I'm not sure about the quality. Second, it's currently out of stock.

For the foreseeable future, I think I'll stick with the Bluetooth device at home, and a small FM transmitter in the car.

Gotta watch out with those baby monitors. Years ago I could not listen to our local smartzone system on 800MHz. Soon as I went outside, system came in crystal clear. Started flipping breakers and pin pointed it to our baby monitor that carried video.
