Hi all

I have been monitoring the Southwest Airline radio frequency for Logan and I am not hearing anything on analog. I went off of RR database. Does anyone know if they have gone DMR?

thank you

Did you used to hear them and now don't? In my experience you have to be pretty close to the airport to hear anything on the airline frequencies in general

I used to hear SWA at BDL/Hartford but one day didn't hear them. I got a few DMR hits in their freq, but never cared to listen to them enough to verify so it is likely they may be in the process of switching.

Spent the past week+ on the ole SWA channels and got crickets, other than Carney Hospital [sharing the freq]

I have not looked to see if they have new licenses, but those ole frequencies were DEAD quiet in any mode

In several markets Southwest Airlines is running a DMR capacity plus trunk. (St. Louis, Baltimore)
They likely have done the same at Logan.

Mike, all the current licensed "East Boston" frequencies are so quiet, they moved elsewhere

Go into the FCC Database, look under Texas and check all the licenses under Southwest Airlines (They might have more for each city). That will give you the frequencies to search. They use MotoTrbo systems, contracted with Continental Wireless in Texas, who applies for the licenses.

Found this one:

25.

Emissions types are 11K2F3E, 7K60FXD, 7K60FXE. Note that power is only 25 watts and they use it in the terminal buildings and on the ramps only.

As it happens I have to be at Logan tomorrow afternoon. I'll have a good amount of waiting time (I think). I'll bring along my laptop portable SDR set up and try to get some listening in.

A bit of traffic on 461.9250. Two separate systems. DSDPlus reports one as conventional DMR with Color Code 10. TG100. Couldn't clearly copy the traffic. The is also DMR conventional with Color Code 14. TG 502, most traffic in Spanish. That's all so far.

I just checked 463.7375, I'm still hearing Southwest Ramp Ops on analog with DCS025. CC14 TG502 sounds like State Garden Produce, even though they're not licensed for that frequency.

The CC (C14) and the TG 5xx, are likely State Garden. I had 14/502 on 461.9500 before my TMobile 5G hell days.

That makes sense, someday we'll have to sort out the State Garden system but that day is not today. For now at least it appears that Southwest is still on analog
