I live Stockholm, Sweden. I get interested in scanner, they have one channel frequency is 79.1125 and it squelch code, not pl tone. They use Motorola GP388 they not have radio in car or computer like usa.They not sound like on a repeater but I hear all unit traffic. I hear of hangtime, when the repeater shut off. It possible to have repeater go off right offter the transmission? To sound like it direct but it really on repeater? Thank you How do I tell if it on a repeater?

A repeater can be set to a very short hang-time or none at all, so it's possible.

If there is a repeater, you will likely be able to clearly hear mobile units that are over 7 km from your location.

If there is no repeater, there will likely be situations where you will only hear one side of a conversation: (a) you will hear the dispatcher, but not the mobile unit, or (b) you will hear a mobile unit talking to another mobile unit, but not hear the reply from the other mobile unit.
