• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

Safety tip for cleaning ham/computer shack:

Turn off anything that might be sensitive to static electricity, especially if you use a vacuum cleaning device around the gear.

What frequency is your Swiffer Duster on?

I've never been able to pick any up here.

I do however get a Hoover vacuum cleaner loud and clear on 452.175.

Thanks for the reception report Good Buddy!

That won't do anything to protect gear. The multi-kV hits don't care if something is powered up or not - they just punch through whatever is in their way regardless.

Swifter 360 Dusters

My Swifter 360 Duster that was manufactured in Cincinatti, Ohio emits the frequencies 463.375 MHz & 464.125 MHz according to my BCD396T's close call rf capture feature. However my Glenwillow Ohio manufactured Dirt-Devil upright vacuum cleaner made my BCD396T go absolutly bonkers spitting out the following frequencies:

451.35 MHz
451.4625 MHz
452.4 MHz
456.4625 MHz
462.075 MHz
898.3875 MHz
898.4 MHz
898.4125 MHz
898.425 MHz
898.4375 MHz
898.45 MHz
898.4625 MHz
898.475 MHz
898.5 MHz
899.8875 MHz
899.9 MHz
899.9125 MHz
899.925 MHz
899.9375 MHz
937.3875 MHz
937.4 MHz
937.4125 MHz
937.425 MHz
937.4375 MHz
937.45 MHz
937.4625 MHz
937.475 MHz
937.4875 MHz
937.5 MHz
938.8875 MHz
938.9 MHz
938.9125 MHz
938.925 MHz
938.9375 MHz

Some of the 800 MHz & 900 MHz frequencies where just buzzing, so maybe my vacuum cleaner has a short, I'll have to check that out. Later today I am going to check & see what frequencies my other appliances operate on, I hope the appliance companies don't get wind of this new aspect of our monitoring hobby or they might start encrypting the signals that the brushes in their appliance motors emit. Happy house cleaning guys.

The cool thing about this thread is the posted frequencies are legitimate. Ahhh, boredom at it's best.

My Hoover is pretty quiet radio wise at least, darn. I never heard anything about the latest Dust Devil attack on the dust bunnies or maybe the cops have given up dealing with gang warfare. I don't know but something tells me this whole idea sucks.

I am about 20 minutes away from Glenwillow. That would be hilarious if I parked outside the factory, close-called it, and got the same freqs!
