Just wondering if someone could clear something up for me. Now and then, I see paramedics with TAC style uniforms (ie pants tucked into boots, subdued shoulder flashes in place of full colour). Are these a special kind of paramedic? Or what?

Tactial paramedics receive special training provided by the local police service's tactical unit so they can respond as part of the police tactical unit to potentially high risk calls.
There are at least three tactical paramedic programs in the GTA - Toronto, Peel and Halton. Around 6 pm you might hear the Peel tactical paramedics log on with the Peel Police 12 division dispatcher using the call signs "Medic 1" and "Medic 2".
These paramedics are usually available to respond to regular ambulance calls when not engaged in their tactical duties.

So are Medic 1 & Medic 2 MoH Paramedics or Peel Regional Police Officers with Paramedic qualifications?

They are ACP (Advanced Critical Care Paramedics) which train with the Tactical Units, Ottawa Police and the OPP also have Tactical Medics. OPP also have a Tactical Trauma Physician...

In Halton, Peel and Toronto they are not police officers. These persons are front-line paramedics who work for the local EMS services.
Note the five digit badge numbers used by Peel's "Medic 1" and "Medic 2". All the police officers are (3 or) 4 digit numbers. The paramedics don't use Peel Police badge numbers.

From what I have been reading about them they train with the ETF in Toronto or whatever city they are in. They learn to use weapons even tho they dont ever carry them. I dont know if that has changed but I did read it somewhere, I thought it was cool since I wanted to become a Paramedic at one time. Just some Useless info.

In Toronto - Has anyone observed Tactical Medics affiliating with the ETF Talkgroup? or has anyone heard them on any of the ETF simplex channels? If not do they get issued ETF radios at the incident?

From speaking to the medics on some of these teams, including the Toronto EMS tactical medics and PSU, they carry police radios and will be affiliated on them when at or responding to an incident with the ETF. You MIGHT hear them book on that channel at an incident, but often they will just switch on thier portables on the ETF channel and when they arrive seen the ETF officers know they are there. As such unless something goes down and they are far enough away to need to be called in, otherwise you'll never hear them on the radio.
