• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hoping someone can help,
I'm needing to program 2 DMR frequencies in a TP-9300. Standard analogue work fine , but when I have entered the DMR Channels, it will not allow me to allocate the "Duel Slot Direct Mode" What am I missing?? I haven't had any trouble with programming other brands of DMR radios, just this one...
Has anyone done a video on programming a DMR Channel in a TP-9300 or similar, from the start???
Hoping someone can help

DMR is tricky. There are no specific videos or guides for that radio, so I used Google AI for this summary

Programming a DMR (Digital Mobile Radio) radio involves configuring the radio's settings using programming software, often called CPS (Customer Programming Software). This includes setting your DMR ID, programming talk groups, and configuring channels with specific frequencies, color codes, and time slots. The process generally involves reading the radio's current configuration, modifying it, and then writing the new settings back to the radio.

Key Steps in DMR Radio Programming:
  1. Obtain and Install Programming Software (CPS): Download the CPS from the radio manufacturer's website.

  2. Connect and Read the Radio: Connect your radio to your computer using a programming cable and read the current code plug (configuration file) into the software.

  3. Set Your DMR ID: This is a unique identifier for your radio and is usually found in the settings menu.

  4. Program Talk Groups: Enter the talk groups (channels) you want to use, specifying their names, numbers, and whether you want to receive or transmit on them.

  5. Configure DMR Channels:For each channel, specify:
    • Color Code: The repeater's color code (CC) is like a CTCSS tone for analog radios.

    • Time Slot: DMR radios operate on two time slots (1 or 2) within the same frequency.

    • Repeater RX and TX Frequencies: The frequencies the repeater transmits and receives on.

    • Power Output: High or low power.

    • Talk Group: The specific talk group for that channel.

    • Channel Name/Alias: A name to display on the radio for that channel.
  6. Save the Code Plug: Save the modified code plug to your computer as a backup.

  7. Write the Code Plug to the Radio: Upload the new code plug to your radio.
Dual mode only works on simplex.

Are your TX and RX frequencies the same? Because if they are different then it thinks you are setting up a repeater. Verify this first.
