I was trying to locate the talk group id for tyler pd tyler texas
Which scanner are you using, and are you using software? If so, which program?

Tyler, as well as Smith County & most of the smaller cities in the county, use the TxWARN trunked system:

For Tyler, program the 'Tyler Simulcast' site.

Look at the system page for TxWARN (linked above).

Scroll down in the talkgroups listed for the system & look at Smith County-Tyler.

There you will see the talkgroups that Tyler uses on the system. Just above, and below, the Tyler details, you'll see TGIDs used by Smith County & the smaller towns.

There are several other sites listed for Smith County (in addition to the Tyler Simulcast). Probably the Lindale site may be in range for you, but I suspect that most of what you may be interested in will be on the Tyler Simulcast.

Your home county, Henderson, has it's own system:
There is a site in Chandler. However, the dispatch talkgroup for your county's Sheriffs Department appaears to be encrypted, which means no scanner can monitor it.

Many of the cities in your county have conventional frequencies in use. However, many of these may migrate to the trunked system (if they haven't already).

Looking at the talkgroups listed for the county's trunked system, there may be additional active talkgroups that have not yet been submitted to the database. So, I would suggest programming that system to be scanned in ID Search mode, which will find new talkgroups. (For Whistler scanners, you add a Wildcard to look for new talkgroups).

Whistler 1040
While the TxWARN system that Tyler & Smith county use is listed as P25 Phase II, the talkgroups for Smith County, Tyler, and the smaller towns in that county are still using P25 Phase I, which your Whistler WS1040 can receive.

However, the talkgroups used on Henderson County's system are P25 Phase II, which your scanner cannot monitor. While the Canton system, and possibly the Kaufman County system, might be in range, all of the talkgroups for Canton, as well as many on the Kaufman County system, are Phase II, which (again) are beyond the capability of your scanner.

So, for now, you can still monitor Tyler, as well as any active conventional frequencies in your county. But at some point (time schedule unknown), expect Tyler & Smith County to also upgrade to Phase II, so you would need to either acquire a Phase II capable scanner, or no longer monitor those agencies.
