If anyone is interested, I have approximately twenty-two talkgroup I.D.'s for Septa.

They currently use a U.H.F. high Motorola analog trunking system. It has very good clarity for an analog system.

FORTUNATELY, these are NOT sensitive T.G. I.D.'s.

Paul,

I like the last statement. We shouldn't really worry about those sentsitive TG's. Lindsay (Webmaster of TrunkedRadio.net) cleared it up. As you saw before he posted it, I made a statement "the PPD knows that the TG's can be heard with the new scanners" I am pretty sure it was that exact statement, a few words may be wrong, but it is basically the same thing I said.

Anyway, most of SEPTA is still on the analog system. I think the supervisor bands are trunked however. It is Motorola Type 2. Here are the frequencies that I believe are not trunked, and some that are:

502.4875 - Buses
502.5375 - Buses
502.7625 - Broad Street Subway (Orange Line)
502.7875 - Market Frankford Line (Blue Line)
502.6125 - Northern Supervisors, City Transit Division
502.6375 - Telemetry
502.5125 - Buses
502.6625 - Southern Supervisors, City Transit Division
502.6875 - SEPTA Transit Police And Phila Police Concourse Unit
502.7125 - Busses and Supervisors For the Suburban Divisions
502.7375 - SEPTA (Universal/Emergencies)
500.8875 - Lindenwald High Speed Line
504.1375 - SEPTA Portables
30.94 - Route 101 and 102 Trolly
30.94 route 101 and 102 trolley
31.02 route 100 high speed line
30.98 low band supervisors/maint
31.1 CTD revenue trucks
31.14 CTD power dispatcher/overhead line
30.9 unknowed

Only ones that are trunked is the supervisor bands I believe. But these are interesting frequencies. Everytime a wheelchair passenger gets on, they radio it in. When I get on the bus, I am going to turn on my UHF rig, and listen when they call it in. I am in a wheelchair by the way.

Hey Paul, can you post them here. If not, can you email them? cbsrus@yahoo.com I'll put them up on my site. Thanks Paul

Might I suggest that you also send them here into the TRD. Submissions for a particular trunked system can be submitted using the link at the top of each system page.

That way, everyone who uses the TRD has the data.

BTW, Lindsay is a he.

Good scanning!

I tested some of them frequencies. I could hear all of the bus route frequencies (Ex. Orange Line, Blue Line, Ect) but all the supervisor frequencies that I listed was trunked. And the VHF in the 30mhz range frequencies were all simplex and kinda hard to hear, but I did hear a few of the high-speed lines and trolleys. Some of the frequencies that I labled "buses" were trunked also. Transit Police is not trunked (502.6875) It is a pretty cool frequencies. If there is a police chase or an assist by the SEPTA police beats, they will broadcast it. Like yesterday there was a suspect that was wanted for assault on police. It came into the area of the officers and they were continuing to braodcast it until the car was lost on I-95 @ Girard.

432- Trolley (Supervision)
496- Trolley

720- Handicap/Shuttle buses
752- Control Center to Bus drivers
816- " "
880- Philadelphia Bus Operations Secondary

The following are the ones I found.
944- Trains
464- Supervision
976
304
368
528
560
592
688
784

I think eventually they (SEPTA Police) will switch over to the trunked system. Currently if you listen to the frequency there is allot of interference by a close repeater or something.

It may be just a birdie in my scanner. But I have no PL on my scanner to eliminate it.

BTW, did anyone see the new Frankford Transportation Center? It is beautiful! I was up there today and there was a few stores cleaning up the front of their buildings. I was shocked by how nice it was. And they tore down all that old track too! I believe it opens back up 4:30AM tomorrow morning (08/04)`

The backroud noise is the simulcast of PPD J-band and others so the SEPTA PD officers can hear it, and dispatch will also re-dispatch any pertinant one's relating to SEPTA's coverage. and I have not found any talkgroup for the PD on their TRS

I know what you are referring to, I listen to SEPTA PD for J-band when I don't have my scanner around. However, if you listen to it, you can hear a lot of noise on the signal -- as if they are doubling with another user. I know it isn't my radios, because you can even listen on the SEPTA PD handsets and hear it.

I haven't really heard any other noise, I know if you leave the Philly area you'll get a lot of static, that's about it though

I am curious to know if SEPTA police also have access to the simplex car-to-car frequency. I would hope so, as all of their enforcement operations seem to be on one CSQ repeater. I am quite surprised that SEPTA PD has not sought some talkgroups for regular use on the trunked system, and/or put DCS or CTCSS on their repeater, even after all of this time.
