76 Everyone.
I just bought my dad (for Christmas) a Uniden BCD996P2 to replace a Radio Shack Pro-2028 (which also was a Christmas circa mid 90s). One of the selling features was the 800mhz trunking ability.
To program the 996P2, currently using Freescan
Accommodating the various RISCON talkgroups, I've alphabetically broken up the various towns/citys and other government talkgroups into three groups (since the 996P2 can only handle 20 talkgroups per group) plus three sites per group.
The weird thing I'm noticing is, the talk group id does default to the "ID:XXX" format periodically
As an example, talkgroup 1805 is West Greenwich Police, Organized via RISCON 3, West Greenwich, Police.
The usual display
(North Zone T0101 or South Zone T0102) --> West Greenwich
(Police or ID:1805) --> UID:iXXXXX
1805
S0:-----
GRP:-----
I'm not sure why the the 996P2 is defaulting to the Talkgroup id number as the name when there is an alias programmed. Is anybody else having a similar problem (trying to determine if its the radio or the Freescan not writing properly)?
