TDMA CODES

My question is: will the new UNIDEN BCD536HP be able to "hear" Ashley Co. S.O. and Crossett Fire Dept. radio traffic?
I do not find these codes listed and am wondwering if this scanner can "decode" their transmissions?

According to the RR database, those two agencies are analog conventional, so any scanner including the 536 will receive them just fine.

Even if they use the P25 digital system (AWIN), it's a Phase 1 (FDMA) system, so the Phase 2 (TDMA) functionality isn't a concern. However, the 536 will handle TDMA.

Look again there are more than one freq. listed. 155.0025 is TDMA digital 155.370 is analog and digital.
So this scanner will be able to hear them correct?

No. Those frequencies are listed as DMR which unfortunately, is not supported in any scanner.

Don't confuse DMR (digital mode) with DMA (dynamic memory architecture that Uniden uses for the 396/996/15 scanners memory).

Well we common folk are just going to have to wait a while for a plug n play scanner to "hear" all this new TDMA and ....... other stuff looks like.

And definitely don't confuse any of it with the actual topic of this thread, which is TDMA.

Simply put, TDMA is one way of having multiple users on a trunked radio system. The other is FDMA.

Frequency Division Multiple Access = regular trunking; each user is allotted a different frequency.

Time Division Multiple Access = two (or more) users sharing a frequency by using "time slots", so that in every set period of time, each user is allotted a chunk of that time proportionally. So in a 2-slot TDMA system (like P25 Phase 2 TDMA and X2-TDMA), two users share equal halves of all allotted time on a given frequency during their voice calls.

I'm not the one confused, I understand what the two are. But, the frequencies he asked about are listed as DMR in the RR database. He keeps referring to them as TDMA.

Mike, they show as DMR in the database, what am I missing? Does that mean they are TDMA?

I knew that. I was just wondering how it was determined that the DMR mode for those frequencies was TDMA. Didn't mean to make it sound like it was an argument

TDMA IS the ota mode for DMR. If a agency/business goes to DMR then it is TDMA. If it is some other form of digital it will be FDMA (like NXDN or P25 unless it is P25 phase 2)
