Which will be the first comm of the new PD?

Code 7, Apple Shed

Premises Check, Starbucks

Free Refill, Circle K

There is some speculation that Calfornia City is going to dispatch the new department

They are thinking about going to there own full time Fire Department too. I can see their years budget going on the first wildland fire when they get the bill for the 408 and the county hand crews and all the other stuff. I know some guys who have lived up there for almost ever and will ask if they know anything about it.

Thanks for all of your replies,
interesting that the city might choose them,
i monitored the bvs pd freq earlier tonight and heard nothing,
i must be out of range, i live in norther bakersfield(aka) oildale.
well i will miss all of the tehachapi (tab) radio traffic on east dispatch, going to be a litttle ouieter on east now, or lt least less work for the so dispatchers.

thanks

No it will be about the same they will just not have the 6 sq. miles of Tehachapi to cover. They will still have all of the unincorporated areas around Tehachapi. Seems like most of the stuff happens outside of the city limits anyway.

I like listening to the local channels when I am up there watching trains. When we have breakfast in Mojave, we will take bets as to how many medevacs will be requested due to the off roaders in the desert... or listening to a wildland fire break out and hearing units responding from all over... I dont really understand why Tehachapi needs its own PD and FD...but it will be something else to listen to!

Thats for sure, be nice if we have a weedend where mercy 14 isnt being run ragged.
what do you think the best spot for watching trains is?
i have been near bena road, about 8 miles east from the bena landfill road, near bakersfield and watched them before ,160.320 on the scanner,

I'd say they will still be on the KCSO system for now, and for some time to come, but you never know. I'll bet they will operate the same way as fire does for CAcity and TFD, etc.

I have people in the know that tell me Bear Valley is ramping up to dispatch for them, will be interesting to see if they use bear valleys channel or are in the process of getting their own.

It would make a lot more sense to use the same frequency. Otherwise the Bear Valley dispatcher would have to monitor two separate frequencies at once, which in itself isn't a big deal, but the officers wouldn't know when the other agency was talking. And there are no applications pending for Tehachapi on the FCC website.

I see that on 3/19/07 the City of Tehachapi approved a whopping total of $7,824.84 for six mobile and thirteen portable Kenwood police radios from Applied Technology Group, Inc. At $411 per, those officers better be careful not to drop 'em more than once.

But that's good news for scannerheads; at $411 they obviously won't be trunked, encrypted, or digital.

Same channel isn't a problem, or listening to two channels. Last PD I worked at, dispatchers had 11 to listen to, and it was very rare that something was "missed".

Besides, the call volume there isn't that great.

Tehachapi Police

FYI - I heard Bear Valley Springs police on 453.275 testing with Tango units today (looks like the new Tehachapi Police call sign.)
