Does anyone know if Tenafly PD is using P25 Trunk, P25 X2 -TDMA or P25 One Frequency?
They are on the Bergen County P25 Trunked Radio System. Its P25 Phase 2I did, it's Project 25 Phase II
Good catch, thanks for the clarification.NParkNJ, they're on the NJICS system. Tg 4715 PD-1. Tg 4717 PD-2. I use the Alpine site to listen in. Chuck.
I have avoided all the other agencies on NJICS which I pick up while scanning, Belleville, William Paterson University, Union County, Miccom etc. I used to pick up Tenafly sporadically. If I manually go to Tenafly PD TG4715 which it displays on Uniden 536, and sit on that frequency, shouldn't it be receiving in that mode?
if they are using their encrypted channel, you won’t be able to hear them.
I would unlock some of the other TG’s to make sure the scanner is still working. If it does receive the other TG’s Tenafly may not be active/busy or perhaps they moved or changed their TG’s. I don’t monitor them so I don’t know.
That is the issue I have. Sometimes Tenafly comes through on the Alpine site and today nothing. I am new to digital radio, but in the past with analog scanners, I just put frequency and PL tone. I monitor TG4715 on their PD1 thinking I should be able to receive but don't. Can they be switching between tower sites and that is why I am missing so much?I usually hear Tenafly on the Alpine site directly. Rarely do I hear then on the West Orange Simulcast. Similarly, I only hear Oakland PD on Ramapo Site directly. Occasionally, Oakland comes in on West Orange Simulcast - but not often. I am located in Belleville, so I do not hear Alpine and Ramapo from here. It's only when I get to work in Woodcliff Lake that I hear Ramapo and Alpine come in loud and clear.
Based on Tenafly's proximity to Alpine, I seriously doubt that they're switching between tower sites. As another RR member previously suggested to you, perhaps Tenafly is using their encrypted TG more frequently than their unencrypted TG.That is the issue I have. The problem is at home with outside antenna or whip antenna. I agree with you that it may be a combination of the ability of P25 processing with the scanner and their use of the encrypted channel more frequently. Another possibility is that your scanner is having difficulty processing the simulcast nature of transmission on NJICS. My scanner doesn't do well processing the Bergen County P25 simulcast system; on certain days I'm able to hear programmed TGs, on other days I am not. See this thread for more information:

Question: Is the problem you're experiencing with the consistent reception of Tenafly's unencrypted TG related to a single monitoring location (for example, your home), or are you not able to hear them consistently no matter where you are?
I have Uniden 536, I agree that channel 2 may be used primarily. There are bigger problems we're all dealing with. Judging by your call letters, I hope you're a hockey fan. Thank you for your replies, Edmund.Perhaps they've been using Channel 2, which IS encrypted? I don't even bother programming my scanner with any encrypted channels - there's no point to it.
Just received their primary dispatch channel 1 minute ago on Ramapo. In the clear.
