• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Could I ask a couple of people to test my feed (link in my sig) and give me feedback on the sound?

Last night the sound inexplicably dropped out, some hiccup in WinXP's mixer, and when I got it back up, I found I can't seem to get the audio level low enough to not redline. I've got everything turned down as low as I can, but I can't hear the feed itself. So, feedback appreciated, thanks. -Rod-

It sounds like at least one channel has a P25 decoding alignment problem making it sound slightly "under water", other than that it's adequate. If that's the case it may be easily corrected, mine was off a bit from the factory but a slight tweak fixed it.

Thanks for the assist!

The channel that seems slightly off is probably just a very distant or blocked source. Most of the P25 traffic around here comes in at 4-6 bars. Those that come in at 3 or below get that robotic tone to them. -Rod-

Sounds great, do you possibly have "end code" enabled on the analog channels? Noticed the squelch swell at the close of calls. Disable that and the swell should vanish.

Not that I know of, but I'm not all that savvy with the unit. It's a 796D, programmed with BC250. I'm not doing any trunking. I don't recall any setting along those lines. -Rod-
