I know what it dies and what it means I guess, but how strong will it reduce the signal . Say a fire department is 25 minutes away and I want to here them but my ATT button is on will it still work? I havent foud a clear and acurit awnser yet..

Ty up man. I guess my question would have been how far away does the att button work. I haven t played with it till the last couple days

ive done a lot of reading and the ATT button seams to come back to alot of post using 800 mhz but here in Maine we dont use 800 we use VHF and UHF the most, the only 800 mhz is the Power company and the city of Portland Maine

It isn't a distance thing. It is a RF signal strength thing. It attenuates by around 15 dB. Most often, attenuation is useful to help prevent a nearby strong signal source from interfering with weaker signals.
