It has been reported that this new system will start in the East and go West. Was wondering if there have been any reports that it is up and running in the Fall Branch, Knoxville, or Chattanooga districts?
First of all I can count on two hands different systems in the State of Florida alone where public safety has gone full time encrypted! If not P25 then its some other unmonitorable format. Not all will be fire depts but law enforcement is. Second, the heck with software where u have to use a stupid computer all the time to hear it! I need it portable. Third, the firmware is a good start however I've only seen it for the PSR-800. I do not like the PSR 800. I wan't buttons on my radio where I can program by hand on the fly if i have to. Not rely on some pre programmed database where could be old or outdated. And believe me RR still has outdated stuff. And no I can't be very positive when the city I've lived in all my life will in the next year or so go encrypted on their new 9600 baud system. Yeehaw. I'm not preaching doom and gloom I'm merely speaking what I'm witnessing.
The plan is to have THP Chattanooga, Knoxville and Fall Branch districts on line first. Basically that's all of eastern TN and the southern part of the Cumberland Plateau. The TN Dept. of Safety has a website with map of the districts. But the FCC data base is showing new TDMA towers extending west toward Nashville so it's possible the I-24 corridor into Nashville could be included.

When I tried to program in the last frequency for Scott County/Black Creek, namely 770.96325, my PSR-800 would not take it--said if was an invalid frequency for this radio. Any idea why?Based on FCC database records here's a list of the new Phase 2 TDMA towers/frequencies the Tennessee Department of Safety is getting on the air. For folks in these areas give them a listen and please let us all know when you hear a control channel on the air. Since it's 2-slot TDMA one freq is for control channel, the two other freqs can handle a total of four simultaneous transmissions at once. These sites fill in the gaps where the TVRCS in eastern Tennessee doesn't get into. THP will operate on the TVRCS where sites are available. Keep in mind THP will also operate on new VHF channel assignments in TDMA mode where the 700/800 sites don't penetrate. Those licenses should start popping up too. Their APX series mobiles and portables are dual band and will scan for the best signal whether it's VHF, 700 or 800.

Another source of 700 MHz frequency information is the CAPRAD database.
1. Go to caprad.org
2. Click 700 MHz on the yellow menu tab on the upper right side of the page.
3. Click Visitors Click Here on the right side of the page.
4. Click Continue.
5. Click TN on the map or select region 39 from the dropdown list.
6. Check Channel Allotments on the left side of the page under Resources and Planning Data then click GO.
Now you have a list of supposedly preassigned frequencies for each county. I don't know how accurate it is. Here in Texas they quit updating it.
You can also click on Reports under Planning Information on the left side of the page and get the output in text or csv.
The green State License frequencies will never show up in the FCC database because stations operating under 700 MHz State Licenses are not site based. They can use any state license frequency anywhere in the state.

Yesterday, I got a report of a control channel on 771.63125 MHz. from just outside of Morrison in Warren County. This maybe the site located in Grundy County that has gone online. Can anyone confirm the site number, System ID, and WACN?

For what it's worth heard someone on the Capitol Detail freq 158.73 say "all Capitol units switch to 800" and they came up this TGID: 47097
There's also another TGID that was referred to as THP Radio Service; 47099
WQQI897 State of TN, P-25 Phase I/II VHF single site-
154.8150
155.1300
155.4450
To be built out by Jan. 02. 2014
Site will be just outside Dover on a State Fire Tower.
I had originally thought TroopNet was going to be all 700/800 MHz like TVRTRS,.. So not sure if the VHF will be TroopNet, or something else, but it is licensed to the State. Possibly the whole shebang for TN will be a mixed bag of interlinked systems on multiple bands. TVRTRS, TroopNet 700/800, another on VHF, and maybe even UHF if they absorb/convert the TN DHS D-7 system? Anyway, if anyone has more info, keep us updated.
Capital Security has been temporarily placed on the 47097 talkgroup. They will only use the 158.730 repeater as a backup now. This talkgroup will remain unencrypted for now.For what it's worth heard someone on the Capitol Detail freq 158.73 say "all Capitol units switch to 800" and they came up this TGID: 47097

To cut down on the number of sites, and money, some of the Troopnet sites in Middle and West TN will be VHF 3 channel sites.Back on 10/15/12, in this thread, there was a post by "ButchGone" that this would be a dual band 700/800 system, with VHF used in remote areas.
