It has been reported that this new system will start in the East and go West. Was wondering if there have been any reports that it is up and running in the Fall Branch, Knoxville, or Chattanooga districts?

Pssssst... The PSR-800 can be programmed on the fly.
Oh, and Pssssst... The database for the PSR-800 is not outdated as they are updated weekly.
Also you can program your own frequencies and talk groups everything's not just the ad card that's on there. The gsr-800 also has a built In discriminator tap also so no need for a modding the scanner but the gsr-800 is a great scanner, and nobody can get around encryption

Is there a map in the FCC data base showing where the towers are located?
When I tried to program in the last frequency for Scott County/Black Creek, namely 770.96325, my PSR-800 would not take it--said if was an invalid frequency for this radio. Any idea why?

Another source of 700 MHz frequency information is the CAPRAD database.
1. Go to caprad.org
2. Click 700 MHz on the yellow menu tab on the upper right side of the page.
3. Click Visitors Click Here on the right side of the page.
4. Click Continue.
5. Click TN on the map or select region 39 from the dropdown list.
6. Check Channel Allotments on the left side of the page under Resources and Planning Data then click GO.
Now you have a list of supposedly preassigned frequencies for each county. I don't know how accurate it is. Here in Texas they quit updating it.
You can also click on Reports under Planning Information on the left side of the page and get the output in text or csv.
The green State License frequencies will never show up in the FCC database because stations operating under 700 MHz State Licenses are not site based. They can use any state license frequency anywhere in the state.

UPDATE: Today, I programmed in the "Troopnet" frequencies into my 396XT, and I am receiving some kind of signal on 771.25625, which is supposed to be in Grundy County, according to the FCC database, however no voice or noise. Still just getting the "T" symbol on my GRE PSR 800 and nothing else.
For what it's worth heard someone on the Capitol Detail freq 158.73 say "all Capitol units switch to 800" and they came up this TGID: 47097
There's also another TGID that was referred to as THP Radio Service; 47099

That would be correct. The Tn Towers site. The only one heard from my area.

Thanks for the update. Any updates on the Grundy, Sequatchie, or Rutherford County sites? Still getting a "T" on my PSR 800, but no voice or frequency displayed. Also, I am getting a strong signal on 771.25625 on my BC-396 XT, but no voice.
I had originally thought TroopNet was going to be all 700/800 MHz like TVRTRS,.. So not sure if the VHF will be TroopNet, or something else, but it is licensed to the State. Possibly the whole shebang for TN will be a mixed bag of interlinked systems on multiple bands. TVRTRS, TroopNet 700/800, another on VHF, and maybe even UHF if they absorb/convert the TN DHS D-7 system? Anyway, if anyone has more info, keep us updated.
Back on 10/15/12, in this thread, there was a post by "ButchGone" that this would be a dual band 700/800 system, with VHF used in remote areas.
This is part of the Troop Net system. The system will be a combination of 700,800, and VHF. Part of the Nashville District, most of the Cookeville District, and part of the Jackson District will consist of some 3 channel VHF sites.
Capital Security has been temporarily placed on the 47097 talkgroup. They will only use the 158.730 repeater as a backup now. This talkgroup will remain unencrypted for now.
To cut down on the number of sites, and money, some of the Troopnet sites in Middle and West TN will be VHF 3 channel sites.
We're waiting for Motorola to push out 7.13 firmware into the system, then sometime in late February / early March the Chattanooga District will cut over to the system. During the second quarter of this year the Knoxville District will cut over, then toward the end of the year the Fall Branch District will cut over.
There will be two Dispatch talk groups per district, one TDMA and one FDMA. The TDMA will be used for normal in car operation. The FDMA tlkgrp will be used when the Trooper is out of the car, and has to talk back through their in car repeater. Both dispatch talkgroups will be encrypted.
