• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

    We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

    If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Why did VW think they could get away with selling cars that had tampered engine emission equipment? Most people don’t like the EPA rules but all of the car builders must play by the same rules. Besides, the govt. has gone after US car builders for just about everything forever so what was VW thinking in that they were exempt?

Funny you mention this. My friends wife bought new a 2012 VW diesel car and now has over 100K miles on it. VW is buying back this vehicle for top dollar because of the emissions issue. Although the state they live in does not test emissions for inspection, they still offered them the buy back program. They agreed to this and will be giving the car back to VW.

What VW will do with these vehicles is beyond me.

VW= virtually worthless.
They sure got themselves in a mess.
If I had to guess, they will likely strip the buy backs for parts and sell the rest for scrap. Or, repower some of the one's in good condition with gasoline engines and sell them very low cost.
